Automotive Training Center

Environmental

The construction of the recently completed Automotive Training Center, located at Metro Community College in Omaha, NE, relies heavily on biophilic design to bring natural elements into the space, most notably in two large bridges spanning the diagnostics training lab. A graphic was needed to span the glass walkways with the dual goal of providing a key visual tie to the biophilic approach, as well as concealing the girders and floor plate construction. The design plots a randomized cloud shape using a pixelated grid, representing the constant mix of natural and digital elements mirrored in the facility.

Utilizing a custom pixel pattern to achieve varying levels of transparency, the embedded graphic takes on a low-res glitched effect, reading as simultaneously natural and artificial.
